Andy usually does the new releases list, though he hasn’t done it quite so often lately. I can see why; it’s a laborious job sorting through much of the dregs released in a particular week to find something, nay, sometimes anything, that would be of interest. As such, please forgive me if I’ve missed anything near and dear to your heart. It isn’t personal.

Luckily this week there is the new Interpol, though I’ve heard it isn’t much good, and then there is The Thermals new record, so there are some things I know I will likely get. Besides that you would be hard pressed to find me getting anything else off this week’s list other than perhaps the new Jukebox the Ghost. Then again I didn’t scour the entire list, so there may be a gem in there somewhere I missed. There are also new records from Sara Bareilles and Robyn, as well as from some artists I have never, nor will ever, listen to.

We got an email from our friends The Rest (who really should have outgrown any friendship with us at this point), keeping us up-to-date on their happenings.  As it turns out, Everyone All At Once
has found UK distribution, so if you’re on that side of the Atlantic, make sure to pick up one the best albums of the year starting this Monday, October 12.

Not willing to leave it at that, though, the band is also hard at work on a new EP entitled Cried Wolf.  The EP will be accompanied by an illustrated novel that tells the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, this time as an adult.

Here’s the catch: the EP and novel will be released the first of each month through January 1^st – with a new section of the novel and a new mp3 each month.  The first section is already up, and can be viewed through their label’s website here.  The band is offering up the first track from the EP as well – their unique take on Swedish songbird Robyn’s “With Every Heartbeat.”  They’ve managed to rework the track into their signature lit-rock sound, and it sounds just as grandiose as we’d expect.
