Everybody knows what I speak of: the local modern rock station owned by a large corporation that plays soulless music a majority of the time only in effort to drive ad sales. They are populated by aggro DJ’s who speak constantly of their hooking-up prowess and make witty jokes about their penis, or the penises they frequently play with. They speak in what they belief is a dry, sardonic and non-caring sort of voice when in reality it sounds as if they’re straining to take a shit. This station at times plays music they think they are supposed to play because they are trying to be hipster. Occasionally the station will play songs that are actually good instead of the usual dregs, but these good songs don’t exactly fit their usual aesthetic. Really in these instances their transparent efforts come across as lame and in the process these stations ruin some songs that are actually fairly good. For one reason or another I fear that future, or even perhaps present, for these following songs. Perhaps they deserve a little better. Then again, maybe not.
Riverboat Gamblers – A Choppy, Yet Sincere Apology (mp3) from Underneath The Owl [Explicit]
Living Things – Oxygen (mp3) from Habeas Corpus
Pendulum – Propane Nightmares (mp3) from In Silico
I’ve got a late Sunday post for ya’s because we haven’t had anything for the weekend. Try these songs on for size. (I’m surprised nobody ever comments about the seemingly disjointed pictures I add to certain posts. Apparently no one cares as long as they are getting music.)
