I won’t lie. I watch How To Make It In America. It’s easily entertaining, without any real redeeming qualities other than a plethora of hot chicks and a vague aura of cool, similar to when Entourage started. But this promo video – a bastardization of Duck Sauce’s “Barbara Streisand” – was released last week before the season premiere, and it kind of makes me not want to watch the show anymore. It’s not particularly funny, nor does it seem to be a vehicle for anything other than celebrities. Meh.
Duck Sauce has been on everyone’s minds ever since the release of their fantastically retro-feeling “aNYway” nearly a year ago. (Which we got a takedown notice for, if I remember correctly. Just one of only three or four that we’ve received in the nearly two years that we’ve been running this show.) If you’re unaware of what the musical Duck Sauce is, it’s a project that’s comprised of Arman Van Helden and A-Trak – each accomplished producers on their own.
After “aNYway,” the duo released “The Motion” as well, and now, they are on to the buzzy spin of their new track “Barbara Streisand.” It’s kind of silly, with the only words on the track being the song’s title. But it plays out at such a jaunty, fun pace that it’s hard to get away from. I’ll put the over/under at one month before we hear the hooks of the “ooh-ooh-ooh” in a commercial, television show or movie. That’s if it hasn’t been used already.
Beyond the intermittent release of tracks, Duck Sauce doesn’t do much. They keep a MySpace and Facebook page, but there aren’t any shows that I know of. I suppose with only three original songs, it might be difficult for them to play specific Duck Sauce shows at this point.
There are myriad remixes of this track available as well. Head on over to Hype Machine if that’s your thing, and check out the absolutely star-studded video below.

Duck Sauce, the project between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, hasn’t done much beyond last fall’s burner “aNYway.” There’s another track on the duo’s MySpace entitled “You’re Nasty,” and there are a couple of other tracks floating around the internet, but this is the first one that’s really made its way around since “aNYway” hit the blogs.
This continues the retro-electro funk of the first single, and it’s equally as catchy – even without vocals. It’s boasts the disco horns and strings that made the first track such a blast to listen to. Take this one in, think about the impending summer nights under the influence, and turn on your iTunes visualizer. Might as well start the trip sooner rather than later.

I picked this one up off of The Music Ninja. Knowing nothing else by the group, all I have to go on is the ridiculously catchy retro-vibe, plus it reminds me of that Stardust song that was inescapable a little over 10 years ago. Duck Sauce is the new project of producers/remixers Arman Van Helden and A-Trak. Van Helden worked with Dizzee Rascal on “Bonkers” and A-Trak worked on the Kid Cudi track “Make Her Say.”
Plus, I like that duck logo, and on top of all that – the video kicks fucking ass.
Break it out tonight before you head to the bar, or on your way to the bar, or at the after party. Or all three. It’s just that good. Get after it.
