Again, we’re going to forego our normal weekly posting of the New Releases, and tell you just to check out the new album from Wavves. If you didn’t like the second one like most everyone else seemed to, King of the Beach is far less ‘noisy’. It’s pretty good. And with that, let’s move on to another new band:
Cusses hail from Savannah, Georgia, but they sound as if they are steeped in the NYC music scene of the 1980’s. They come off at sharp corners, bubbling under with testosterone and a healthy rage – despite (or more likely because of) Angel Bond’s invigorating vocals.
This track is from their impending second EP (the first having been released in February of 2010) – entitled 2NDS. Both are rapid bursts of punk vitriol; they’re at work on their debut full-length as well. 2NDS is set for release on August 3rd, but I don’t see any pre-order information right now The band has a few dates lined up in NYC at the beginning of August, and a couple of other dates on their MySpace as well.
This is one band to watch for; they’re obviously hardworking, their sound is raw and unbridled, and they’re good at it.
