I missed this one when it was announced back in June; released on July 19th on ArtFag, Bleached is a duo comprised of sisters Jessica and Jennifer Clavin. (Both used to be a part of Mika Miko; one used to be part of Cold Cave.) “Think of You” was released as the A-side to the duo’s single called “Carter,” and although it already sold out its initial run, it will be re-pressed on purple vinyl and re-released “soon” (according the ArtFag website).
“Think of You” is a spastic track, clocking in just under three minutes, never letting up through its entire run. It’s punchy and punky, assaulting listeners’ ears with jagged punk riffs and saccharine lyrics.
The duo will be meandering their way around the country over the course of the next month on a tour that will take them all the way out to NYC for CMJ before ending back in Las Vegas on the night before Halloween. They’ve also released a video for “Think of You,” which you can check out over here.

For the first half of this mix Cold Cave’s slant is nearly invisible amidst the Delorean original-sounding instrumental that could easily soundtrack the Gyrosphere at Seabreeze. In addition to the original’s lack of presence for the first three minutes, it’s also nearly invisible for the final minute as well – this is all the better. The presence is felt only in the catchy vocals from Cold Cave, which are well-placed here, albeit briefly to max effect.
That this version is its own seemingly unconnected song, only hinting at one part of its basis, makes the take interesting. Cold Cave’s is a burner, and though this track hits on a completely different level, it too is a burner nonetheless. Spin it loud.

Later today I plan on getting at least the first installment of my favorite songs of 2009 out. But I have some running around to do today and it’s not ready. So here is a post I drafted way before our albums countdown began. It’s probably been written about a ton since then and I think featured in a commercial, but anyways I liked it then and still do now, so it’s worth it.
