[video] First Aid Kit // Emmylou

Johanna and Klara Söderberg hail from Stockholm, but you’d be easily forgiven for thinking they’d strolled right out of Nashville. The sisterly Swedish duo perform heartfelt, melancholic country songs, drenched in slide guitar and gorgeous Appalachian style harmonies.

They released “The Lion’s Roar,” the eponymous single from their upcoming second album, back in November. This week, they unveiled the video for second single “Emmylou,” and it’s about as countrified as you can get – wall to wall slide guitar, gentle falsetto warbles, “lil’ darlin’s” left, right and center, and a chorus that name checks Emmylou Harris, June Carter, Gram Parson and Johnny Cash. It’s a sweet, charming track, with a video to match. If watching cute Swedish indie chicks wandering through the California desert is your thing, you’re in for a treat.

The duo are signed to Wichita Recordings, which is home to some of the best indie  bands around at the moment (Los Campesinos!, Best Coast, Cloud Nothings, Conor Oberst). The Lion’s Roar will be available later this month.
