When listening to Kettering I get an overwhelming sense of something that makes it feel important somehow. Perhaps it is that the entire album is about the love for someone who is dying, which serves to lend the album its title, Hospice. To say that singing an entire album of that nature makes it seem more important than someone singing a silly love song is presumptuous and likely misguided – but somehow in this instance – the first time I heard the song it just felt like it was better than the usual. But maybe that is just me.
