I’m going to skip my usual 1000 Minutes post for today – in part to allow Dave to catch back up to me, but mostly because I didn’t even get a chance to think about it this past week. In lieu of that, I’m introducing you to a new band:
We get a lot of music coming through our inbox that the artists are looking to have us listen to. I regrettably don’t have the time to give it all the attention it deserves, and often make snap judgments based on very preliminary, superficial things – poor band names, poor song names, etc. That’s the nature of the beast, I suppose.
But the other side of that proverbial coin is finding something that’s actually right up my alley like the e-mails so often claim. And Sergeant is just such a band.
They’re a Scottish four-piece that makes shiny pop/rock, and who have fittingly opened for Oasis and The Fratellis already. The photos they sent along seem far more pensive than their actually music is, but no matter. It’s unfortunate that I ran across them with the fall in full swing; their music begs for warmer, longer days than the year has left to offer.
Their eponymous debut album will be released October 12th in the UK; there’s no US release that I can find, but I’ll be looking forward to hearing it.
