[mp3] Patrick Lee – Quittin’ Time

PatrickLee 300x300 [mp3] Patrick Lee Quittin TimeOften the best place to get a handle on what an artist is truly all about is their respective “About” pages on their personal websites.  This, conceivably, is where the artist gets his or her chance to explain what the driving force is behind their music.  Judged simply on his own “About” page, Patrick Lee is an artist who doesn’t take himself too seriously.  He provides the reader with a brief synopsis of his life in one long sentence.  This particular section of his life made me laugh out loud:

“…won six Grammys, collaborated with Notorious B.I.G. a few times, won “Remixer of The Year” in SPIN, traveled the globe with the Globetrotters, invented no less than thirty-three different dance crazes…”

To be honest, I wasn’t aware that there were that many dance crazes to be accounted for, but I’ll take him at his word.  (Read the rest of his “About” right here.)  This track, from his most recent album (his 25th? No joke.) entitled The Last Thing, is an instrumental fusion of various styles and influences, and with a title like “Quittin’ Time,” it feels like a Friday at 5PM should.  Too bad it’s only Monday, but I bet if you try it out later this week, it will feel even better than it does right now.

Mr. Lee has a couple of tour dates listed around the Denver area, which you can get over at his site.  You can also get your very own copy of The Last Thing in its entirety for free as well.  I’m not one to tell you what to do, but that’s something you may want to look into.  Also, take a gander at his extensive section of mixtapes. I’m getting down on Year of the Ox! right now.
