Have I ever anticipated more from a debut album than what I’m expecting out of Gauntlet Hair? The Colorado duo are winning my personal Top Played list for 2010 by more than 25 plays with their torrid “I Was Thinking…” from earlier in the year. And then yesterday we got word from Gorilla versus Bear that the band will be releasing a new single via Mexican Summer called “Out, Don’t” – which made a fairly pedestrian Tuesday far brighter.
The track itself is awash in the reverb that was on display on their earlier single; far more prominent here, however, is the pair’s electronic bent. It’s an absolutely aggressive, wholly refreshing sound. You can pre-order your very own copy of the 7″ right now through Mexican Summer. Between that release (paired with another new track “Heave”), and another imminent from the folks at Fire Talk, Gauntlet Hair has stoked the buzz flame to blue – at least around here.
The twosome is out touring the West Coast with the likes of Blackbird Blackbird and Woodsman. You can check their complete list of dates over at their MySpace.
