I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is that makes Dakotafish feel familiar. Maybe it’s the soaring falsetto that lead singer Mike so effortlessly uses. Maybe it’s the chunky Eighties vibe that the duo makes feel equally effortless. I think it’s probably some of both, to be honest.
The group has released a single through Bandcamp with this track “Jitter” as the A-Side. (Do I still call it the A-Side even though the release is digital? I think I do.) Regardless, both “Jitter” and the b-side “Impossible Histories” are well worth your time. Get them both for free at the aforementioned Bandcamp page.
There aren’t any tour dates listed on any of their sites, so I don’t know if the band has anything in the works or if they’re holed up in a studio somewhere, working on a future release. I’d assume the latter, but make sure to catch up with them in case something pops up around their native California.
