I don’t know much about Alchemist Records artist Atlantic at Pacific. He sounds as if he is well versed in how the ocean feels, which puts him squarely in the ‘chillwave’ movement of the past 18 months or so. But unlike the standard bearers of the genre, there are no vocals on the tracks I’ve heard. Perusing Austin Wood’s MySpace (he’s the man behind the Atlantic at Pacific moniker), I find that he keeps good company – Blackbird Blackbird, for example.
“Weddings” – the title track of A@P’s forthcoming release – is a bleary-eyed look at the world first thing in the morning – probably when you’re hungover. It pulsates back and forth, getting the blood flowing again, easing you into whatever the day has in store.
Weddings (the album) will be released digitally and in a limited double CD on August 24th through Alchemist. Until then, grab a couple additional tracks over at their Bandcamp, and catch up on MySpace.
