norse horse grids ep cover [mp3] Norse Horse // Sun Corridor

Los Angeles’ Norse Horse released their Grids EP over the summer, but it didn’t come across my screen until it got picked up and released digitally by Polyvinyl. The five song release, clocking in at just under 20 minutes, is the group’s first since their 2009 debut, Secret Geographies, and it’s a quirky, off-center brand of pop.

“Sun Corridor” is the single, but the EP is best digested when taken as a whole; it showcases the band’s wide ranging influences and sounds when listened to in sequence. Of the tracks on the EP, “Sun Corridor” is the most pop-centric and straight forward of the bunch. The rest of the EP is far more prone to wandering; in fact, the songs that really drew me in come just before and after “Sun Corridor” on the EP.

Grids is available through Family Time Records physically on CD and cassette, and based on the information available at Family Time’s site, the EP will be reissued on 10″ vinyl as well, though there’s no set release for that at this point. If you’re not into the whole physical trend, Grids can be streamed at Norse Horse’s Bandcamp page below, and purchased through the normal digital retailers.
