Toronto’s Little Girls is hands down the creepiest band name I’ve ever had to search for on Google. With search strings like “little girls” and “little girls toronto” not yielding the results I wanted, I tacked ‘music’ onto the end of the second string and got somewhere that wouldn’t land me on a registry.

What I uncovered, however, is a fantastic band that produces downer, albeit memorable, pop that sounds similar to Wavves when they’re upbeat, and kind of like Darker My Love when they’re not. They released an album back in 2009 called Concepts that the following track is from, and from what else I can find on the group, it seems to be representative of their work as a whole. The band has had a few releases prior to their album as well, with a single on Captured Tracks and an EP through Mexican Summer. (The vinyl versions are both sold out, but you should still be able to cop the digital ones if you’re interested.)

If you’re in Toronto this week for NxNE, make sure to catch Little Girls at one of their two shows – Thursday the 16th at The Great Hall and/or Saturday the 18th at The Garrison.
