Formed a year and a half ago in St. Louis, Britches make a completely destroyed noise/experimental brand of rock. Their debut EP, entitled Demo, is not bound by general songwriting rules. There’s not much in the way of verse/chorus/verse or structure, and that seems to be just how the band likes it. They’re not past abandoning the song entirely for 10/15 seconds in the middle of it to make a shit-ton of noise.
Think about the coolest kids at your high school (not the popular kids – the coolest ones), and think about them forming a band to play at the school’s talent show. Think about how bored those kids are with playing because no one is fucking cool enough to understand what they’re doing, so their set descends into a controlled anarchy for a couple of songs. That’s Britches.
You can get Demo in its entirety for free right now over at their Bandcamp page.
