Over the past week I’ve introduced Black Coffee & Cherry Pie and Steffaloo, and now it’s time to introduce their collaboration, Black Coffee & Stephee Pie and the Spin EP. The easiest and most appropriate way to describe their music is that it’s a mashup of their individual work. OK, it’s not literally a mashup, but when listening to the wonderful three-song EP it’s clear to tell where BC&CP and Steffaloo illuminate their unique characteristics – Steffaloo writing the lyrics and providing the vocals and BC&CP on the production.

The mix of the two creates a sound that can melt you to your seat with a rich atmosphere that integrates mantras, melodic waves, and extensive wisps of psychedelic folk. On the title track, the individual rhythms are built on top of one another, culminating with a blend of the original architecture with drone synths held out until the abrupt finish.
