I’m trying to think of the number of different artists I’ve seen Steffaloo involved with (musically) this year. So far, I have Black Coffee & Cherry Pie, as well as Germany Germany, and now there’s Philadelphia’s Gracie – and those are all in addition to her own releases.
This new track, entitled “Quilts” is a product of the two artists not meeting at this year’s CMJ. They both took in the other’s performance while at the festival, but the two failed to actually meet up. In order to remedy this oversight, the pair decided to make a song together, and “Quilts” is the looping, reverb heavy result of that process. On it, Steffaloo takes the vocal lead, and the result is a rather dreamy, interstellar jam, which sounds like the cover suggests – strewing out stars across the night sky.
Gracie is readying a new EP with the folks at Small Plates Records titled Treehouse, which should be out sometime in January. Steffaloo has a new 7″ single out now through JaxArt, and is also, based on her website, preparing a release of covers. No information is available on that release other than some probable cover art, but check her website for future info on it.
