Denver’s Gauntlet Hair have inserted themselves back into my consciousness with the impending release of a new 7″. (They’re really not ever too far from it, however, with my ever-burning need to hear “I Was Thinking…” at least once per week.) Culled from their self-titled debut from last year, “My Christ” is the third single they’ve released from the album.
Saturated with their signature reverb, “My Christ” can sound downright cavernous at times (which makes the single’s cover all the more appropriate), punctuated by Andy’s distorted vocals, which sound more gruff on this track than any of the previous ones we’ve heard from the band. The vinyl single is backed up with two tracks that haven’t been released in physical form to this point, the first called “Need To Retire;” the second: “Minimal Armageddon.”
The 7″ will be released on January 24th through Dead Oceans, and it’s available for pre-ordering now through their website. Gauntlet Hair is gearing up for a quick run of tour dates in Europe in the middle of February, and if you can get the chance to see them play, I highly recommend it.
