Galapagoose commitments low [mp3] Galapagoose // One Who Cant Move

I’m hardly one to have an opinion on what is good or not in the world of electronic music; in fact, I’ve been told to stick to indie rock. But screw that: if something is good, my inability to properly articulate that goodness shouldn’t stop me. Case in point: Galapagoose’s “One Who Can’t Move.”

The Australian producer released the first track from his upcoming album, Commitments, last week through XLR8R, and it’s instantly shot to the top of my brain, demanding it be repeated constantly. It’s slightly over two minutes long, so it’s not particularly hard to repeat constantly for the better part of an hour. Anchored by a sample of Frank Sinatra’s version of “Send In The Clowns” and bolstered by a skittering, pulsing beat and weightless synths, “One Who Can’t Move” is as easygoing as a Saturday in the middle of summer. In short, it’s a gorgeous track worthy of the artist it samples.

Galapagoose’s album will be released on March 13th through Daedelus’ label Magical Properties, and if you’re into this sort of thing, I’d imagine that might be something you’re interested in.
