Kicking around Twitter and Facebook most of the day lends itself to, in addition to seeing a bunch of nonsense, the occasional informative link. This week, from my following Born Gold (who is playing our 3rd Birthday show in March, if you haven’t seen), I saw this article on Forbes of the Best Free Albums of 2011, which led me to The Dogs.
Hailing from Chicago, The Dogs’ album Camping was released for free on Bandcamp back at the beginning of March, and it’s a nice introduction to the band’s melodic pop. “We Don’t Have To Do Anything” is the first track on Camping, and while any song from the album would have worked for an introduction – try “Dance More” when you go to listen to the whole album – I figure it’s probably best to use the one that the band put up first, though they did release two of the songs on their own before the album came out.
If you like what you hear, there are several ways to support the group monetarily, all detailed on their Bandcamp page, from purchasing a CD ($5), a poster from their summer tour ($10) and/or a t-shirt ($15).
