[mp3] Butcher the Bar // Bobby

butcher the bar for each a future tethered cover [mp3] Butcher the Bar // Bobby

At the outset of Butcher the Bar’s “Bobby,” I thought I was listening to Feist’s “I Feel It All.” It has a similar feel to it, but it delves into much more hushed tones than Ms. Feist’s song does. And I had to go back and look at the blog’s past posts because I was almost certain I’d talked about it before. Turns out, it’s just that familiar.

Hailing from Manchester in the UK, Butcher the Bar is the work of a single man – Joel Nicholson. “Bobby” is from his sophomore album, For Each A Future Tethered – his first release in three years – that came out this past June. It’s a good thing that PR people send around those year-end recaps of what their clients have been up to over the preceding months, or else I may have just glossed right over it.

Turns out, you can stream Nicholson’s entire new album freely right over here. So if this track is enough to make you want to listen more, but not enough to shell out some clams to get the whole thing, head there to see if it’s worth your while.

For Each A Future Tethered is out on CD and vinyl through the folks at Morr Music now.
