Sometimes things happen organically. A few weeks ago I happened to listen to Miniature Tigers’ “Dino Damage” and enjoyed it greatly. It isn’t a new song – it was released in 2008 – but it was something I hadn’t heard before and I found myself listening to it several times in a row.
I was considering my options in regards to posting about the song, when lo and behold we got word of an impending album (FORTRESS) release this coming July, sent along with word of a new track. On the new song “Gold Skull,” much of what I enjoyed about “Dino Damage” is not exactly present on this new track, which was produced by Neon Indian’s Alan Palomo. Yet it remains an interesting track that takes on the character of its producer. Christopher Chu of The Morning Benders produced the rest – or at least most of the rest – of the album, so that may be a bit more up my alley if it follows suit in adopting producer tendencies. Regardless, this is a new band on my radar. We shall see.
