[mp3] Introducing: Lobisomem – Concussus

onzepedras 1600x1600 [mp3] Introducing: Lobisomem ConcussusThis evening brings another track from our inbox to your ears; it’s different than what we usually talk about.  Lobisomem, in addition to having one of the more creative stage names that I’ve heard, makes a strange breed of chopped up electro, incorporating a wide swath of sounds and textures.  It doesn’t particularly match the meaning of his moniker (‘lobisomem’ means ‘werewolf’ in Portuguese); it’s much more relaxed than ‘werewolf’ would suggest.

“Concussus” starts off with manufactured drums and a Casio beat, before mixing in horns, and then allowing the rest of the song to flow around those.  There are few vocals to speak of (no pun intended) until the very end of the song – and even then I can’t make out what is being said.  The track devolves into a series of noises, jagged and spacey.  It’s a composition, really, and one that leads nicely into the rest of Lobisomem’s first album – Onze Pedras – which will be released on September 14th through Tall Corn Records.
