If you were paying attention this past week, you’ll have seen that Dirty Projectors put out a new 7” entitled Ascending Melody.  If you want it in physical form, you can order it for a couple of bucks, and if you aren’t interested in vinyl singles, you can have the two tracks for just your e-mail address.  However you want it, make sure to get it.

It’s a nice, quick follow-up to last year’s phenomenal Bitte Orca.  The title track is a lively, choppy piece that falls just under 5 minutes, and burrows its merry way into your brain.  The b-side is more reflective – but still upbeat.  Dave Longstreth and Co. have a unique way of sounding completely different while doing something strikingly similar to what they’ve done previously.  And it’s fantastic.

Get the title track here, and go and get the other one via dirtyprojectors.net.  You’ll want to sign yourself up for updates on whatever the band is doing anyway.
