I figured it was about time I wrote something for this here new site, so I thought about what song(s) I’ve been wearing out since I last wrote something. The first came to mind immediately. If you haven’t heard it then this quick remedy will enhance your day. The second I have heard a lot and it has been consistently stuck in my head.
Washed Out – Feel It All Around (mp3) from the Life Of Leisure EP
This track is meant to be repeated – and frankly I have done so – superfluously. The barely three minutes pack a solid punch of moody atmospheric retro-pop. I love the drums that break in every now and again and the vocals match the synths perfectly. Just try and not like it.
The Flaming Lips – Convinced of the Hex (mp3) from Embryonic
I don’t love this song, but I do like it. As I mentioned above it has forced its way into my brain and is having difficulty escaping my ever present brain jukebox. If you don’t know what I mean by that then you are not a music person. It was about time Wayne Coyne got back to making music so I don’t have to hear of him bitching about The Arcade Fire or fake bitching about Bradford Cox anymore. In fact, make another record with a robot theme would you?
