1000 Minutes: Dave #44

I thought I might go a bit more formative with this edition; perhaps not formative of my tastes directly but surely in the formation of subsequent bands and stylistic leanings and inspirations. I don’t have much to say about either of these songs that hasn’t been said before so I will keep it short. As always, if you are unaware of what this project is about, go here for my complete list to this point.

89. Johnny Nash – I Can See Clearly Now (mp3) from I Can See Clearly Now (2:45) [Time Remaining: 635:17]

One of the most eternally optimistic songs you are likely to hear. It’s an infectious ray of sunshine both in the lyrical content as well as the overall tone of the song. Pure joy.

90. Four Tops – I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) (mp3) from Four Tops’ Second Album (2:45) [Time Remaining: 632:32]

Easily one of the greatest songs of all time, without mentioning its place in the formation of desperate love songs.
