Hey, just stumbled onto your site for the first time. Very cool stuff.
About, Gord’s solo work: I know a lot of people with music tastes that seem comparable to yours (judging from your above-list) and when Coke Machine Glow came out, many didn’t really dig it at the time. But these days, Gord’s solo stuff sounds more relevant and more up the alley of “indie” listeners than the Hip’s stuff is. And I am saying this as a die hard Hip fan. I love them. But I listen to Gord solo more often these days and I think I can say the same about many Hip fans and music lovers. I highly recommend “Battle of the Nudes” (I believe it’s a masterpiece – check the tracks ‘figment’ and ‘steeplechase’) and the newest release “The Grand Bounce” – fantastic records. Cheers!

We’re close enough to Canada that they get love here. I’ve seen them twice in concert.

I haven’t heard the new Downie album. I got Coke Machine Glow and hated it all those years ago, so I never got any more of his solo work.

Very cool idea! Up in Canada it seems that The Tragically Hip are only popular to Canadians. I think I saw 2 songs on this list though.

Have you heard Gord Downie’s new solo album? Solid stuff.
